23 Sept, Zola (bhaiya's daughter) turned 9 and bhaiya want to celebrate her birthday with a 90Km run. I thought its better to go along and take benefit from his company, these runs are very informational as bhaiya is moving wikipedia of running.
This time we plan to run from 5am to 7pm and bhaiya had given me target of 70K, the max i did before was 52K. But i woke up late at around 4:25 found bhaiya calling me, all this because of India vs Australia T20 semi-final. We went on mine motor bike to Nehru Stadium and manage to start the race by 7 only.
This is the first time i am running with bhaiya in scorching sun. We planned to run of our own. I started with 3-1 strategy followed by 2-1 and 1-1. Bhaiya did 21K in a stretch followed by 2-1 startegy. Raj ji(fellow runner) and Adhiraj (addidas guy) came to see us. I got cramp in mine right calf because of dehydration at around 50K and manage to do 60K some how(9hrs 30min), I was limping all the way in last 7-8 k. Bhaiya did 90Km in 12hrs 30min easily.
After finishing the race we picked our stuff and went to an eating joint in R.K Puram. We had masala dosa with lot of coconut chutney there. After finishing our meal we went straight to Bhaiya's place to wish Zola. Its 10pm and zola was still waiting for her papa. She cut the cake and I had a big piece of choclate cake before leaving bhaiya's place.
I like the way bhaiya celebrated zola's birthday.

Vikram,
Since you are already running long distances, I hope you are planning to go to Bangalore (along with Arun) for the 1st Bangalore Ultra marathon.

yes i am planning to, what abt you? c'mon we will go together. they have 52k category as well
I would have loved to, but I don't think I am ready for that yet. Besides, I am going to run the Singapore marathon on Dec 2nd, and running an ultra so soon after that may be risky.
At the Nehru stadium, do you run inside the stadium, or take the about 5km long route on the road outside the stadium?
Do you know of some good long distance running routes in delhi (loop greater than 10KM long) which is a dirt route (i.e. not a road route, cemented or asphalt). Basically, I am trying to find longer routes to run on without hurting my legs in the process. If you are not sure, just check with Arun and please let me know.
we did it on synthetic track (practice-track) in Nehru stadium.
Actually for our long runs we need water and something to eat as well, we just put our stuff somewhere in between thats the reason we follow small loop, Also with that we can see our stuff lying. Bhaiya and I had very bad experience of loosing things during our runs ;).
yes i understand running on road is hard for our joints, i do mine normal day runs on red soil track in a 900m loop (11 sector park) or on treadmill, But bhaiya used to do it on Rajpath only.
I know there is one 2-3km loop in rose garden opposite IIT. Measure it with gmap ;). Anyways I will check with Arun bhaiya abt longer dirt track and will let you know the same.
